Brain Damaging Habits
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2 . Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our 20 body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6 . Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest... Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells..
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain
Main Causes of Liver Damage :
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3 . Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil.
As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is20very fit.
8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of liver.
Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to 'schedule.'
Top 5 Cancer Causing Foods:
1.. Hot Dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.
2. Processed meats and Bacon
Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.
3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams , may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.
4. French fries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acryl amides which occur during the frying process. They should be called cancer fries, not French fries, said Adams .
5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.

My Newly Formatted Food Blog
I have recently bought another domain for the permanent residence of my Food Blog. It is now a collaborative work between me and my bestfriend-sis Mae since both of us are foodies. Please visit www.FoodieThought.com for your daily fix of food cravings.
The web blog used to look like this under ReyaneFoodHaven. But I like the new lay-out more. It's simple and more eye candy don't you think?
Together with the new lay-out for my food blog, I also uploaded a new template for this blog. I got tired of the dark template with the sunset banner and am now into this cutesy kikay theme. Let me know if you like it or not by answering the poll on the right. Thanks!

FTF: On my Food Blog
"There is no sight on earth more appealing than the sight of a woman making dinner for someone she loves." Thomas Wolfe
I know this saying does not apply to me for the past weeks.... I've been too busy these past days... but I hope to cook at home on Saturday... I gotta find something new to impress my hon. ^_^
Meanwhile, please hop over to my other blog for mouth watering threats.

Reyane's Food Haven

Gee!... After posting my first ever cooked dish after a long hiatus of not cooking, I was inspired from Mommy Peach's Kitchen to make a food blog. I love to cook and have a penchant for great dining. I had drafts and lay-outs a year ago for the food blog but it never materialised. None the less, I continued to take photos of food and dining with my friends. Some of these photos, I was able to share here in my personal blog but mostly were kept. So finally, I decided to make a separate blog where I would share my combined love for food and amateur photography. After an hour of tinkering with the CSS and HTML codes, tsaaaaran! Here comes Reyane's Food Haven. Some of the pictures are taken using my Samsung Digicam and some are taken using my Nokia N70 camera phone so please bear with me in the picture quality. In the future, I plan to buy a new digi cam or maybe a Nikon DLSR to take these to the next level. ^_^
Meanwhile, please visit my Food Haven.
Short Cut Kare-Kare with Pork Alternative
Tonight, I cooked Kare-Kare for the first time. And since I don't eat oxtail or tuwalya and I don't like the taste of beef, I tried an alternative of using pork meat. Usually, Kare-Kare, a Filipino dish is best made with Peanut sauce, asuete and rice flour but I made a short cut and used Mama Sita's Kare Kare Mix.
Kare-Kare Recipe
1 pouch Mama Sita's Peanut Sauce(Kare Kare) Mix
dissolved in 1 cup broth
1.1 lb (1/2 kg) oxtail cut into 1 1/2 lengths
8 cups (2L) water
1 tsp (2.6g) minced garlic
1 pc (40g) sliced onion
7 pcs (100g) pechay (Bok Choy Leaves)
6 pcs (100g) sitaw (long green beans) - cut into 2" lengths
1 pc (100g) eggplant sliced into 1/2" lengths
1 tbsp (15ml) cooking oil
Bagoong (Sauteed shrimp paste)
1. Boil oxtail in water. Lower the heat and simmer until meat is very tender, adding water as needed leaving about 1 1/2 cups broth
2. In a heavy saucepan, saute garlic and onion in oil. Add oxtail, stri fry and pour in dissolved Mama Sita's Kare Kare Mix. Add the remaining broth.
3. Stir and simmer until sauce thickens then add the eggplant ang long green beans. Simmer for 3 minutes more stirring occasionally.
4. Lastly, add pechay (bok choy leaves) and simmer for 2 minutes or until vegetables are done. Serve with bagoong (sauteed shrimp paste) and rice.
Happy Eating! ^_^

Coke Green Tea
TOKYO - Forget “Classic” or “New” or "Diet" or "Zero" Coke. In Japan, you can soon have your cola flavored with green tea.

Green tea-flavored Coca-Cola will hit Japanese stores June 8, Coca Cola (Japan) Co. spokesman Katsuya Sato said Thursday. It contains tea antioxidants called catechins, leaves a slight green tea aftertaste and is mainly targeted at health-conscious women in their 20s and 30s, Sato said.
“We wanted to cater to people who are looking for something that tastes good but is also good for health and beauty,” he said.
Coca Cola is the leader in Japan’s cola market but faces stiff competition from non-carbonated bottled drinks such as tea, coffee and fruit juices.
Rival Pepsi Cola is countering with another exotic cola — Japanese basil-flavored “Pepsi Shiso,” which hits stores in late June.

Beeeday and Mom Day
May 2007, I spent my birthday in St. Louis, Missouri since I was out of the country.
May 2008, there was a triple celebration. My brother graduated from college, it was mom's day and my birthday. We spent it swimming with a few of my cousins and mom's friends.
This year, 2009, I opted to celebrate it with my family. My mom, my bro and my life partner was with me on my special day. My mom wants to cook but I told her that we should go out and dine.
I challenged them for 2 games of bowling. ^_^ ahaha! And I lost.

Si hon, medyu addict na sa bowling while my brother played it for the first time. Bonding moments kami. It was fun.
Then we went to Kenny Rogers for dinner.

I used to order their solo plates but this night we tried their Healthy Plate and Protein Plate. I love their salad and the rosted chicken. I only spent less than Php1,000.00 for those. 2 Healthy Plates and 2 Protein Plates. It includes salad, chicken, fruits, muffin and ice tea. I also ordered extra side dishes of corn and carrots and baked cheese macaroni. For the dessert we ordered Chocolate mouse.

Happy Eatin'!

How much do you Spend at your Birthday?
Pinoys have this culture of always celebrating. We have a numerous holidays, fiestas around the country and birthdays are not excluded in the celebrations. Birthday celebrations now adays are not cheap. If you have a lot of friends with different group denominations, it can even get more expensive. Barkadas can require you to have a drinking session at a bar or maybe a video-oke over night at your house.
You celebrate with your family, you celebrate at your office and you celebrate with your friends. With the financial crisis worldwide and job lay-offs here and there, once could not help but to think twice in spending their hard earned moolah.
This year, my birthday happens to be on a Monday so I have applied for a vacation Leave from work. Last Thursday May 7, I advance celebrated my birthday at the office with some of my close friends. (Charm! sori.. di ko alam kung nasan ka). Mga mare ko'y pagpatawad nyo na ako kung ako'y nagkukuripot. ^_^ I was able to spend only less than 2 thou. Gemma helped me call a Pancit bihon delivery for 1 bilao good for 20 persons where we spent PhP890.00. Then I bought a Strawberry Cake from Goldilocks for PhP305.00. I also added 2 whole Roasted Chicken bought at the supermarket for PhP 135.00 each. Then Sese, Gemma and Mitzi contributed 2 gallons of ice cream, a pistachio and chocolate flavored. Thanks mga mare! ^_^ Nabusog naman sila.

I am not sure on celebrating my birthday with my soul sisters-Remyxx since I have not heard from them for a long time. Mae is in US. Hazel and Ivy are busy with work. While Mhe-ann and Lucky are preparing for their weddings.
Today, the day of my birthday, I would like it to be very simple. I would only celebrate it with my mom, my bro and my hon. Maybe cook a simple dinner for four. I am budgeting around 2 thousand. This is enough for me to celebrate it with my love ones.

How to Date for Less than 1K pesos
Yeah, you heard it right. Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, ang bonding moments eh hindi naman dapat magastos. Simpleng lagalag lang at chikka pwede na dapat sa mag jowa. ^_^
Last night, my hon and I decided to go to Glorietta Mall. We rode a taxi to get there. Ikot ikot ng konti then found ourselves wandering sa Timezone. It has been years since I last played a game in Timezone. Medyu napag iwanan na pala ako kasi noon kelangan mo pang bumili ng coins but now Swipe Cards na ang gamit. At reloadable pa! ^_^

We played racings games, air table tennis and belted our lungs out in videoke lounges.

We only spent PhP200 for the Reloadable TimeZone PowerCards.

For Dinner, we ate at Wendy's and chowed on Biggie Meal Combo for less than PhP500.
Sa sobrang busog ko sa fries and frosty, inuwi ko na lang kay bro yung Burger ko.

Then sight seeing kami sa Ayala Avenue. Parang nasa New York night life lang.

end of log.

Kennys Grill
First time i got to step to Rockwell Mall. Hon and Me ate at Kennys Grill. The food was all natural... I mean.. you can really taste that the strawberry shake was made from real "just-prepared" strawberry. And the spaghetti I ordered was very fulfilling.

I also got to lay my hands and buy my very first Belle De Jour planner. Why did I say my first? Of course, I plan to buy the planner next year. I love it! Thanks sis Mae for introducing me to BDJ. :)

Top 10 Most Bizarre Foods --by the Travel Channel
Armed only with his vast knowledge of all things edible, Andrew Zimmern is on a quest to find the world’s most bizarre foods. As a food writer, dining critic, radio talk-show host, TV personality, chef, and teacher, Zimmern is one of the most versatile and knowledgeable personalities in the food world. He is game for anything and knows the most interesting food is found closest to the source. So whether he’s chasing down large water rodents in the Louisiana bayou, fishing for piranha in the Amazon or flushing out cave bats in Malaysia, you can be sure the guy with the iron stomach will dish up the unimaginable.

We asked Zimmern to compile a list of the top 10 most bizarre (but palatable) foods he has ever eaten, listed in order from least palatable to most surprisingly tasty.
1. Durian
Location - Pinang, Malaysia
An extremely odoriferous (some would say noxious) fruit with custard-like flesh. Native to Malaysia, the oblong, thorny fruit can be deep fried, formed into cake and candy, or made into flavorings for ice cream, beverages, and other food items. Durian is considered a delicacy in some parts of Malaysia, and has been known to sell for $50 (U.S.) for one fruit. Many people love the taste of durian, but its powerful aroma is so offensive to some that airplanes, trains, and buses often prohibit the fruit in passenger areas.
2. K'lia
Location - Marrakech, Morocco
Also spelled khlea, this meat (usually lamb) is salted, dried, and preserved in its own fat. A traditional specialty of Morocco, k'lia is often served with lentils and spices at the outdoor market, Djemma al Fna in Marrakech, Morocco.
3. Mangrove Worms
Location - Palawan, Philippines
Worms that live off dead wood pulp. Eaten raw. Popular in Sabang Beach in the Philippines, these long, slimy worms are said to be high in iron and taste similar to oysters.
4. Callos
Location - Taberna de Antonio Sanchez in Madrid, Spain
A casserole made with blood sausage and tripe, which comes from the intestines of various domestic animals. This dish is popular in Taberna de Antonio Sanchez in Madrid, Spain, where it is often served as tapas, small dishes designed for sharing.
5. Coconut Grubs
Location - Coca, Ecuador
Larvae that live in dead palm trees. Zimmern tried the dish in the home of a member of the Pilche community in the Amazon rain forest.
6. Menudo
Location - Motes de la Magdalena in Quito, Ecuador
Soup made with tripe and beef hearts. This soup is also popular in Mexico, where it began as a peasant dish. Menudo in Mexico can refer to "raw stomach meat" as well as the stew. The recipe for menudo varies in different regions of Latin America.
7. Goose Intestines on Bean Sprouts - Goose guts.
Location - New York's Chinatown
Served at Congee, a restaurant in New York City's Chinatown. Goose intestines are not uncommon fare in China, but then again, neither are duck feet or frogs.
8. Nutria in Sauce Piquant - a large semiaquatic rodent.
Location - Morgan City, Louisiana
Eaten in the home of a trapper in the bayou in Morgan City, Louisiana. Dining on nutria is not for the faint of heart. The rodents resemble large rats with bright orange incisors. Still, the nutria is probably safer on your plate than alive in your yard—the animals are a host for a nematode parasite that can infect human skin. Yummy!
9. Soup No. 5 (Yes, that's the real name)
Location - Balaw Balaw in Luzon, Philippines
Soup made from the back and testicles of a bull is eaten at Balaw Balaw in Luzon, Philippines. In the United States, bull testicles are also sometimes referred to as "Rocky Mountain oysters" and can be prepared in a batter and then fried in oil and eaten with hot sauce.
10. Haggis - Assorted sheep parts mixed with oatmeal and stuffed into a sheep stomach.
Location - Edinburgh, Scotland
This traditional Scottish dish was originally a common peasant meal, but can now be found in grocery stores year round all over Scotland and other areas of the United Kingdom.
