Who Says I can't Buy Love?

You can't buy loyalty, they say.
I bought it, though, the other day.
You can't buy friendship tried and true
Well just the same, I bought that too.
I made my bid and on the spot
Bought love and faith and a whole job lot
Of happiness, so all in all
The purchase price was pretty small.
I bought a single trusting heart,
That gave devotion from the start.

If you think these things are not for sale,
Buy a brown-eyed puppy with a wagging tail.

PETA's Undercover Investigation @ Angel's Gate Hospice

T_T remember....

Genesis 2:15 ESV - The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to WORK IT AND KEEP IT.

Stories like these always make me cry. I wish I could do something and inspire others to be also compassionate to animals. T_T

No animal should be kept in the cruel conditions that PETA's investigator witnessed at AG, but for animals with special needs, quality of life and individualized care is especially critical. Elderly animals who are nearing the end of their lives suffer severe emotional—not just physical—distress when, for reasons they have no way of understanding, they are abandoned by the family they have always known and loved. Senior animals must be able to rely on their guardians to be brave and see them through difficult times, even when that means saying goodbye
Tsk tsk.... sad stories...... I could never imagine abandoning Bachie nor Moimoi....... T_T

Ultimate Loyalty: Japanese Dog Refuses to Leave Injured Friend Behind

I can't believe they lived through it! It's adorable how one protects the other dog. Sometimes I cannot fathom the undying

Emerging coverage from Japan offers a moving example of ultimate dog loyalty, and clearly illustrates the challenges faced by animal victims of the earthquake and tsunami.

It has been said that the dogs were picked up after the video was filmed, and are in the care of a local shelter. Updates and pics will be offered at the link above in the coming days, as available. Translation of conversation in video:

We are in Arahama area. Looks like there is a dog. There is a dog. He looks tired and dirty. He must have been caught in the tsunami. He looks very dirty.

He has a collar. He must be someone's pet. He has a silver collar. He is shaking. He seems very afraid.

Oh, there is another dog. I wonder if he is dead.

Where?

Right there. There is another dog right next to the one sitting down. He is not moving. I wonder. I wonder if he is alright.

The dog is protecting him.

Yes. He is protecting the dog. That is why he did not want us to approach them. He was trying to keep us at bay.

I can't watch this. This is a very difficult to watch.

Oh. Look. He is moving. He is alive. I am so happy to see that he is alive.

Yes! Yes! He is alive.

He looks to be weakened. We need to them to be rescued soon. We really want them rescued soon.

Oh good. He's getting up.

It is amazing how they survived the tremendous earthquake and tsunami. It's just amazing that they survived through this all.

Update:
They have already saved by rescue team within that day. I heard that the white dog could not eat and a doctor gave him a drip transfusion at the hospital. The brown dog has an appetite and vitality^^ They are staying at protection facility. The owner seems to have come out by their micro tip, but I don't know their safety. I hope these two dogs will come back to their owner. Uncountable animal volunteer from all over Japan are still working very hard for animals.

A Unlikely Tsunami Survivor

3 weeks after the devastating tsunami in Japan, rescue teams found a very unlikely survivor; a dog amongst wreckage that had floated out to sea. Much like humans, dogs can go weeks without food, but only a few days without water. The question remains – how did he survive? He couldn’t have survived off of salt water, because he would have died from dehydration. Due to the amount of rain endured over the last few weeks, scientists believe he lived off of pools of rain water collected throughout the dog’s floating wreckage.

Please Tell Canada to End Its Shameful Seal Slaughter

I received an email about this and I am sharing these information from PETA because these animals cannot speak up. I am appalled that there are people who would do such gruesome deeds to these small and helpless creatures.

For thousands of years, harp seals have migrated from Greenland down the coast of Canada, stopping each spring to give birth on the ice floes. Every year, a band of fishers descends on the ice to beat hundreds of thousands of seals to death and sell the animals' pelts on the international fur market. Sealers routinely hook baby seals in the eye, cheek, or mouth and drag them across the ice, often while the animals are still conscious. Many of the seals killed in the massacre are only a few weeks old.

Baby seals stand no chance against club-wielding seal hunters—pups must look on as fellow seals are bludgeoned to death only to then meet the same bloody fate. The commercial seal slaughter is an off-season profit venture for the fishing industry, and it accounts for less than 1 percent of Newfoundland's economy. The seal slaughter is not a subsistence activity for native peoples—Inuit sealing accounts for only about 3 percent of the annual slaughter.

Sealers crush baby seals' skulls in before they skin them. Virtually all seals killed in Canada's annual slaughter are younger than 3 months old.
The price of seal fur is plummeting as international outrage against the seal slaughter rises. The U.S. and the European Union have banned seal products, and world leaders such as President Barack Obama and His Holiness The Dalai Lama have denounced the massacre.

Sealers routinely hook seals in the eye, cheek, or mouth to avoid damaging the fur. Then they drag the seal across the ice—in many cases while the seal is still conscious.

The annual seal slaughter will continue unless people like you speak out and take action to stop it, so please add your voice to the global outcry against Canada's shameful seal massacre. Please write to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Canadian ambassadors around the world to demand that they bring the massacre to an immediate end.

Why is Canada Killing Seals?

Veterinarians and Department of Fisheries officers have found that many seals' skulls are not adequately crushed, which means that those seals may be skinned alive.

Most people would agree that there is something terribly wrong with shooting and smashing in the skulls of baby seals, yet despite international outrage, the Canadian government allows sealers to beat and skin hundreds of thousands of these gentle creatures every year. So why is Canada killing seals?

The seal slaughter exists because of the overall demand for fur. During Canada's annual war on seals, sealers routinely hook live seals in the eye, cheek, or mouth to avoid damaging the fur, then they drag the seals across the ice. Many of these gentle creatures may not even have eaten their first solid meal or taken their first swim before they are slaughtered for their skin.

In 2009, the European Union voted to end the sale of seal products, and the U.S. Senate unanimously passed U.S. Senate Resolution 84, calling for an immediate end to the annual seal slaughter. It's time for Canada to wake up! And with the help of caring people like you, we can put an end to the slaughter once and for all.

Born to Die....

OMG!  It breaks my heart seeing the videos below. Just like how I cried and howled "Please do something!" when I saw the videos of how China harvests fur. I wish I could do something for them... I am literally crying right now. I can't stop crying...  T_T   And as I type these words.... my sight is so blurry tears and images of these sad doggie eyes.

You know how much I love my dogs.... Their unconditional love warms my heart everyday. .... and I can't stop this feeling of sadness. I am sad because there are people who treats these animals like nothing. Tsk. Tsk.... what a waste of life indeed. I hope I can do something for them.
"Every year, an estimated 5 to 10 million pets are euthanized in animal shelters in the United States. Why? Because there is no place for them to go, no homes for them. Yet, we continue to let animals roam freely, unneutered and producing more unwanted animals. Their offspring often go from birth to the shelter where, if they are not adopted before their 6 days are up, they will be killed. That is where the expression "born to die" applies; newly born into this world only to be put to death. What a tragic waste of life. There is a solution for this overpopulation problem, and that is to spay and neuter."

How to Groom a Shih Tzu Dog

Moimoi is already 9 months old. Last year, I use to bring him to Tiendesitas for professional grooming since I don't know how to groom or cut his face hair. It costs me Php400.00 everytime. Adopting a shih tzu dog requires one to have patience and time to maintain this breed of dog. Unlike my Labrador, moimoi requires me to comb his hair everyday because I decided to keep his hair long. For his bathing and grooming, I usually do it every weekends. It takes me half hour to bath him and another half hour blow-drying his hair.

I was thankful these past weeks because Sweetypie was here to help me with bathing MoiMoi. Before bathing, I cut/trim his face hair. I do this to prevent his hair covering his eyes. Although a teddy bear cut is nice, I plan to keep his hair long so I can brush him everyday. Stress reliever na din yun for me. Sana maging ganeto kaganda ang hair nya in a few years.

I found some helpful videos on the net on how to achieve this perfect shih tzu grooming. Moimoi's current shampoo is so fragrant that it stays for one week. It also keeps him so huggable and his hair so smooth. I took some pictures and will post it once available.

Meanwhile here are the videos on How to Groom a Shih Tzu.

Moimoi, my Happy Happy Shih Tzu

Last year, we bought a shih tzu from my colleague. I begged my hubby to buy me one para naman I have kasama sa bahay while he is away. It was such a fun when I posted on FB a poll for his name. My friends voted on choices like Boknoy, Mikmik or Potchie. And then I named him Moimoi. He was such a cute and happy puppy.
who says playing while eating should not be done?
He likes to sleep infront of my computer screen on top of my table whenever I slack around the house and just surf the net all day.
Baby, stop droooling!
During my times of sadness because Sweetiepie was not here with me, Moimoi was my comfort and stress reliever. One time, I went home from work feeling stressed and so sad, while watching tv and thinking about my hubbby, tears started falling. When Moimoi saw that I was silently weeping, he did the sweetest thing of just sitting beside me, putting his paws on my lap and like a small child comforting me turned his happy happy face  on! It made me smile!

Isn't he soooo adorable?
He is part of my family now. Sweetiepie♥ loves him so much they play catch ball everyday. My mom and brother loves MoiMoi too that they wanted him to stay in Cavite na with them. Ayaw ko nga! Paano naman ako? Wala ako kasama sa apartment ko!?

Nativity Scene

A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard. During the night the folks came across this scene. An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night.

We should all have the good sense of this dog and curl up in Jesus' lap from time to time. No one mentioned that this dog's breed is a "Shepherd!"

This is too sweet not to share.

I'm Back!!! What have you been up to?

Welcome back to me! Yey!.... After months of hiatus and not blogging... I am now going out in the sunshine again and embracing the world. Meeting friends and attending events. Yeah, it's been a long 2 months since I last blogged. I really had to pause for a while since I refused to flood my blog with alot of anti social, senti and emo moments. I would like my blog to be something that can inspire people to live a happy life and be always thankful for each day.

"Mas madaling ngumiti kahit hindi ka masaya kaysa magpaliwanag kung bakit malungkot ka..."

Yeah, that was somehow what I have been feeling. I lost my inspiration to write and share meaningful ideas because I was feeling empty. Sweetypie♥ had to work abroad for 10-months and I suffered emotional heartbreak everytime I try to think of him. Good thing the same day he left, I got MoiMoi. My Shih Tzu. This little puppy gave me smile and support these trying times. It was hard being away with a loved one whom stayed with you through thick and thin and through PMS and bitchyness. Sweetypie♥'s being away made me realize how important he is to me and how I am very lucky to have such a very wonderful person for 7 years!
"My loneliness is killing me .....and I ....
I must confess  i still believe...
When I'm not with you I loose my mind..
Gimme a siiiiignnnn..... Hit me baby one more time. "

I'd like to share some tidbits of what I have been up to.

1. I now have 2 dogs a labrador named Bachie which is with my mom and Bro at Cavite and a Shih Tzu my fiancee bought me as a companion while he is away. Bachie is already 2 years old and I am researching on how to breed dogs. I might be sharing stuffs I learned on the process here in my blog.

2. Yes, you heard it right. Sweetypie♥ is now my fiancee and although we had some small talks before, we just made it official 2 months ago before he left and told me to wait for him. When he gets back, we will be tying the knot. I already told my mom and she is happy about it. She said it's about time. It will not be a grand wedding because I prefer the simple civil one. It will be the happiest day of my life shared with only the special people I can't live without. I found out that it takes alot of researching to make a wedding happen. Sweetypie♥ still mentioned having a Church wedding eventually when we finally saved enough for one. I might be sharing a few more stuffs about this.

3. My Shih Tzu is now 6 months old and is a very playful and sweet puppy. As I mentioned he kept me company all those nights when I was crying myself to sleep and wishing Sweetypie♥ was here. A dog is the Only Thing that loves you more than you love yourself. That is true! I would eventually be sharing some funny anecdotes of why I love MoiMoi.

4. I am now going out and reaching my friends like Sub and Charm for kwentuhan blues and Movie marathons so I have some pending Movie Reviews to post.

5. I also went back to reading and would like to share with you my pathetic insights on novels and books I read these months.

How about you? What have you been up to lately?

PAWS Animal Blessing 2010

I am an animal lover. I have 2 dogs and would like to have more if my time, place and budget allows me to.

So when I received an invite from PAWS to attend the Animal Blessing 2010, I was happy. I can now have MoiMoi blessed. October is that time of the year when we celebrate the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology.

PAWS, Eastwood Mall and Pet One invite you to bring your furry family members to be blessed during special Mass for the Animals at the Eastwood Open Park (in front of the new Eastwood Mall) on Sunday, October 3, at 5:00pm. Celebrant for this Mass is PAWS volunteer and animal lover, Rev. Fr. Joey Paras, SDB.

If you can come an hour earlier, please join us for the procession of the statue of St. Francis of Assisi around Eastwood which starts at 4pm.

Our advance greetings of a Happy Feast Day of St. Francis (Oct 4) to all animal lovers! We hope to see you at Eastwood Open Park on October 3! =)   -The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

Something to Smile Today: Pug Sings Batman

Oh well, I'm quite sad since Monday. Been crying and into emote mode because Sweetiepie♥ will be leaving for a 9 months international work abroad. My eyes are already red and I need something to smile today. I should be happy for him.... I should be happy for us! And oh!... yeah..... pumayag na siya for me to buy another dog to be my companion sa house while he is away. Si Bachie - my labrador is in my mom's house kase. I'd probably buy a Shih Tzu and call him Potchie or Pot Pot. I'd probably buy him a carrier bag so that I can bring him whenever I go and every weekends to visit my mom, bro and bachie.
Anyhoo..... I think I should just save the crying for tomorrow when I accompany Sweetiepie♥ to the airport. Let me smile today..... found a video of a pug singing Batman! Funny! :D
